Dear MVP students,

Wow, we’ve had a full 30 Saturday meetings for 2019-20 school year! We learned a lot from each other, and we will continue growing.

With officer meetings on Mondays and the added week-day meetings due to COVID-19, I’ve spent more time with year’s students than any other year. Knowing you all has given me hope, and I want to thank you for your dedication.

1) Seniors
Please respond to this week’s meeting projection form, even if you cannot join. Let’s continue to be connected throughout your college years and beyond so we can build a network of accessible and joyful scientists, thus positively impacting personal health decisions.

2) Invited speaker talks
As I mentioned, I will invite you to all of our invited speaker talks this summer.
i) Dr. Eric Green, Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, a branch of the National Institute of Health. His talk will be at 11:00-11:40 am ET on June 2nd (Tuesday).
He will talk about precision medicine and his career path, as well as answer questions!

ii) Other talks: invitations will be sent out about a week before the talk date. Please check the speaker information and date here and here.

3) Officer election
Our senior officers nominated potential officers based on your applications and the qualification rules. This Saturday, we will vote for the officers of 2020-21. The final result will be shared in a separate email.

4) Committee meeting: May 30th, 4-4:30 pm (ET)
Please plan to join our committee meeting this weekend to document your wisdom, knowledge, and experience so that what you have learned can benefit future volunteers. Thank you.

5) Saturday meeting: May 30th, 2-4 pm (ET)

See you this Saturday, and have a wonderful summer.

Inhan Lee, Ph.D.
